Two full days...

...of projects and fun :)  Jordan and I happily spent much of this weekend relaxing at home (with the exception of his trip to Trenton to golf Saturday).  He slept in on Sunday...until 3pm(!) while I got up at 10, fixed cinnamon rolls and got started on my projects!

I spent some time yesterday updating my laundry room.  When Jordan first saw my work, he was a little confused-- until he realized it was for the laundry room... not to be put up front and center in his beloved living room. :)  I had a canvas I re-purposed (for the 3rd time actually).  This time I painted it with a funny quote I saw online,

painted a basket I had from one of our veggie adventures earlier this summer,

and used my Cricut to make some cute labels.
And we have...
Nothing too fancy... but it makes me laugh every time I go through there (which is often since the laundry room is off the kitchen with a door leading to the garage).  Remember "Laundry Today or Naked Tomorrow"

I also spent some time making a few things to hang on the fridge... One is really just a quote I found that made me laugh.  Roseanne says the funniest things-- I'm always saying, "please excuse the mess" if there is any little bit of clutter when someone stops by.  From now on I think I'll say it Roseanne's way...

Again, just a little something that makes me laugh every time I see it.

And on the other side of the fridge...another little organizational tool I saw on a friend's Pinterest!
It even came complete with list templates....
I'm going to try this with my meal planning next week before I go to the store and see how it works!  If you want one for yourself, a direct link to the site I got the idea from is here.

Happy Monday, and I hope you find yourself having a terrific Tuesday,
Meghan

My Unintentional Summer Break...from blogging

While I've been on break...from both work and blogging a lot has been going on!  I changed my hair (again), and ended up with a red peekaboo....that has faded to cotton candy pink.  Cute, but not so cute for my new teaching gig!  Alyx (my sister), and I will be correcting that this week before grad school and work begin again. Aside from my hair...

I organized my new shared classroom.... with the help of Dana, who also came from high school to teach elementary school...
It's functional (we had a lot of furniture), but it's needs prettying up... I'd love to have a classroom that looks like this.

I love all of the colors, and if you check out the other pictures you'll see that this classroom is not only beautiful, but it is organized!  I didn't think I'd want tons of "stuff" everywhere and covering the walls, but it's so much more interesting!   I think I want to embrace my inner school teacher and express it!  I definitely love the lanterns, and the wire reading baskets are something different and unusual...such a cute touch!

While I've been away enjoying summer, I got to meet my beautiful niece...in 3D!  This is Ellanor Abrah--I have lots of things for Ella to share... some handmade by me, some from a couple of fabulous Etsy shops!  On the off chance that Ella's mommy checks my blog, I think I'll wait to share them.... Alyx and Ellanor's shower is next week--After that I can post all the cuteness!
We managed to make some time for....
a little family vacation!  Jordan was able to steal away from work for a few days, and we joined my family at the beach... We had such a great time with the fam & "TCC" (Trenton Cornhole Club) as we always do.  We had some wonderful seafood, and left in time for Jordan to get back to work on Thursday. Ahh... Farewell rolling waves and beautiful blue skies.

These may not look like the most delicious pickle you've ever had... or maybe they do if you know Jordan's Pawpaw!  These are Pawpaw's pickles... Luckily, I have the secret family recipe, so I can make pawpaw' pickles too!  In fact, I planted my 8ish cucumber plants this spring for the sole purpose of making pickles (I don't eat cucumbers...blah).  I made so many in my last batch that I ran out of jars, and had to settle for putting this last bit in tupperware-- Most of these have been enjoyed already!

Momma, myself, and Alyx also took on another little venture... I drove to Flattop Farms near Soddy Daisy, TN to find "canners" (i.e. canning tomatoes), and White Half Runners (my Granny's green bean of choice...which is the best bean green bean in our opinion).  I bought two bushels of beans and two large boxes of tomatoes drove to Trenton and we got to work.
Day One: 1 bushel of beans strung/broke/blanched/bagged/froze, and 1/2 a box of tomatoes peeled and canned.
Day Two: Alyx does my hair, and mom's hair. Which meant 1 1/2 boxes of tomatoes got canned, and 1/3 of the beans were strung (is that a word or even correct???) and broken.  I got to take home and string/break/blanch/bag/freeze the rest of the bushel.... Two words: WORTH IT.

In other canning news, my *hilarious friend Lauren came over for dinner and tried my banana peppers... she bought some for us to can together.  However, she was on apartment clean up duty for her apartment in our college town--Athens, Ga!  So I put these together for us to share-- LP, I'm holding your birthday present and banana peppers hostage until you come to see me!

This week I started prepping for school--both teaching and graduate work.  Jordan started his classes, and while he was in class/working I organized the office/craft/my room.  The lamp/poor camera quality (used my cell phone) don't really show off the room... and it does have a ways to go.  I'm having a hard time deciding if I like the Cricut over by the printer?

I do like my little black desk with the computer on it (the black desk previously held the cricut/cutting supplies and the yellow desk was for my computer and printer).  I still have some things I want to do...Organize (or better organize*) my school books and decorate more in this room.  I'm just glad to have removed most of the clutter and have enjoyed being here these last few days.
Ok last little thing for this post... then I'm going to waste spend more time looking at pins on Pinterest (don't go looking for Pinterest unless you have time to kill).

Gogh Paint-n-party!
I met some of the teachers at my new school (which I think I'm really going to enjoy) for dinner and then painting here.  If you live in the Chattanooga area I highly recommend Gogh Paint and the instructor Leslie is fabulous!  She is candid, funny, and honest about your work!  They provide the canvas, paint, brushes, and instruction--You choose the night from their calendar that shows what's available to paint, and you BYOB if you'd like and bring snacks as well if you like, put on your apron and have fun!

This is my finished masterpiece.  I put it up in my kitchen just yesterday and love it!

I believe I have filled in most of the gaps between posts... except for expounding on a few lazy days here and there-- or everywhere :)
